L “8” SUMMER SHOW
A VIEW FROM BEIJING BY EIGHT CHINESE CONTEMPORARY ARTISTS
HAI GALLERY’S L”8” SUMMER SHOW opens on September 22nd and will feature paintings by eight of the brightest Contemporary Chinese Artists in Beijing.
Curated by Joy Hai-Qin Zhang, the exhibition will showcase work by rising stars of the Contemporary Chinese art scene, including Wu Yiqing, Shen Liang, Wei Jia, Xu Weiqiang and Zhang Weiguo, some showing their work in Europe for the first time.
“The idea of this exhibition is to look outwards from Beijing through the eyes of eight of its contemporary artists – as an antithesis to the city being the focus of international attention over the past Olympic month”, explained Ms Zhang. “It is an attempt to view the world through eyes into which the world has gazed”.
“Born between1961-1983, these painters have emerged through a period of such rapid social change in China that – while all considered contemporaries – their work reflects the diversity of inspiration and influence that is currently making modern Chinese painting the most exciting and desirable for investors on the world market,” concluded Ms Zhang.
The September 22nd exhibition will be held at Hai Gallery at 36 Windmill Street, London W1T 2JT and will run for one week.
